TaskMagic is an easy-to-use
authoring tool for creating non-web-based interactive exercises
for use in schools. It is ideal for Foreign Language learning, but can be used
in many curriculum areas and for literacy and numeracy work.
TaskMagic
has been developed by mdlsoft (www.mdlsoft.co.uk) and
is extremely easy for teachers to use with very little ICT
knowledge. It generates a variety of games and exercises (up
to 14) from one set of inputs. Many of the games it produces
are in familiar game formats – Invaders,
Asteroids, Pacman, Pelmanism, 3 in a Row, Millionaire, Gap-Fill,
Pool, etc. TaskMagic can make exercises based on text, images and
sounds. Within each exercise type, all the different games and
activities can be accessed via the “exercise” tab at
the top of the screen. In TaskMagic Create there is a “Help” button
for each exercise type which explains how to make exercises. Click
on the Exercise Type links in the left frame.
TaskMagic does not produce web-based
exercises, so schools or individuals have to have the TaskMagic
software on their PCs in order to access the games and activities.
